SALARY: £11262 per annum
WORKING PATTERN: Full time (inclusive of block/day release for college attendance)
CONTRACT LENGTH: 24 months
The Apprentice will work within the In House Tree Team on behalf of Enfield Council and its stakeholders (contractors, partners and users) to ensure the parks and other open spaces throughout the Borough are attractive, clean, safe and welcoming at all times.
The Redevelopment and Environmental Works Team is one of four groups in Highway Services, within the Regeneration and Environment Department.
The service also is responsible for management of all Parks tree stock and also manages the In House Tree Team.
We have an opportunity for an Apprentice who wishes to follow a career in Tree maintenance, to work within the Parks in house tree team.
For this position we are looking for individuals to attend day release training at Capel Manor College and gain practical on the job arboricultural experience and skills throughout the remainder of the week working with the Enfield in house tree team.
You will be a physically fit, hardworking competent individual and will be expected as part of your training to work at heights, and operate specialist arboricultural machinery.
You must also have excellent communication skills and be a good team player.
In return this Apprenticeship will offer you great real life work experience, qualification and a chance to make a difference in your community. You will be working towards an Arborist Qualification level 2
The Apprenticeship programmes runs for 24 months to support the Council’s aim of achieving a workforce that reflects the community. We offer a great opportunity for anyone who would like to achieve a national vocational qualification.
In order to apply for this programme you should:
- Be a resident of the borough of Enfield,
- Be aged 16 and over
- Currently not be in education or employment or training
- Be willing and able to study at QCF Level 2
- Ideally have achieved GCSE grades A – D or equivalent in Maths and English or Pass our basic Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (Level 1 Minimum)
- Be motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated to achieving results and high standards
- Not have a degree level qualification

Most of our apprentices go on to employment or an advanced apprenticeship within the council.
We have 1 post which is based at various locations within Enfield Councils parks and green space areas. For the post you will be required to study for a level 2 qualification whilst working full time. You will be allowed paid time off to attend college.
In addition to completing a qualification you are required to show you have a good standard of functional/key skills i.e. Communication and Application of Numbers and complete a technical certificate. You will also need to maintain good assessments at work and college.
We require all of our apprentices to:
• Maintain good attendance at work and college
• Be able to demonstrate good time-keeping both at the start of the day and during breaks
• Understand and work within the council's rules and instructions
