The School of Arts & Social Sciences is an internationally-excellent centre of research and learning on the human condition in all its dimensions. It is a large and vibrant School with around 3,000 students (one third postgraduate) and over 250 staff in seven Departments: Economics, English, International Politics, Journalism, Music, Sociology and Psychology. The School aims to attract outstanding members of academic staff who will produce world-leading research of benefit to society; provide innovative and exciting programmes of study; and enrich the lives and enhance the career prospects of its students.
The Department of Economics is a leading centre for research and undergraduate and postgraduate education. The Department has core research strengths in development economics; experimental and behavioural economics; financial economics and econometrics; health economics; macroeconomics; and microeconomics. It has hosted several academic conferences in recent years and runs an internal and an external research seminar series.
Alongside its highly successful BSc and MSc programmes, the Department delivers a growing PhD programme as a member of the South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) ESRC Doctoral Training Partnerships.
The Department is seeking to appoint an academic with a world-leading or internationally excellent track record in research to a Lectureship in Economics. The appointed Lecturer will engage in the delivery of education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, participate in the supervision of students and contribute fully to the life and work of the Department.
