The purpose of the Development and Alumni Relations Office is to support the University's Strategic Plan by delivering philanthropic income and other forms of financial and non-financial support from alumni, friends, companies, livery companies, trusts and foundations and other grant making bodies and institutions. The Office raises money for University wide and strategically important initiatives that cover student support, world class research and development of the University's estate.
This is achieved by developing and strengthening relationships with strategically important constituents and identifying shared areas of interest and activities to enable a lifelong relationship to develop and flourish. The Office also works closely with Schools and other Professional Services teams to support UK and international student recruitment, Careers opportunities and enhances the Student Experience, all of which support the University's Mission and Vision.
The job holder will have responsibility for planning, managing and attending alumni events for both Cass alumni and alumni of the wider University. The job holder reports to the Cass Alumni Relations Manager although may manage some international alumni events for the wider University.
The job holder will play an important role by working within the Alumni Relations team, interacting with the University’s alumni and providing support for UK and international activities and events.
A strong understanding of the role of Higher Education in the context of the wider economy
A strong understanding of the issues currently facing those studying at University
A strong understanding of current political issues
A clear understanding of the University's Strategic objectives
Excellent written English
Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good work relationships with alumni, students and stakeholders.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with people from different backgrounds and in different positions.
Ability to use standard computer programmes including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
Excellent organisational and time management skills
The ability to work independently and take ownership of a project.
The ability to accurately interpret data
Event management experience
Alumni relations experience
Experience of using Raisers’ Edge, City’s preferred fundraising database
Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience
Preparedness to travel overseas where necessary
A passion for self-development
Preparedness to work unsocial hours where the need dictates
The ability to act as an Ambassador for the University
